Yellow Tail. How does a cheap Australian wine compare to a category I am much more familiar with, cheap Chilean wine?
The official WSET style tasting: Yellow Tail Merlot 2015. Clear with a deep purple coloring. Young. The nose is clean with a medium (+) intensity displaying notes of ripe strawberries and cherries with herbal and oaky hints. Developing. Dry in mouth with medium acidity, high alcohol, medium (+) body, medium (-) body, medium (+) tannins and a short finish. Flavors include berry marmalade and spices such as pepper. An inexpensive acceptable wine that is ready to drink.
My take: Yellow Tail Merlot 2015. You get what you pay for…It feels pretty hot in mouth, so I figured the alcohol was higher than its 13 percent. Cheap Chilean wine seems to have more drinkability and fruity flavors than this meh Merlot. And look at that mouth description above, it’s kinda all over the place. All the same, it was acceptable and the price was right.

But really, the true conclusions of this wine are:
1. If you’re working for the man, strive for a job where there is compassion and understanding. If not, you’ll find your wine-loving self buying Yellow Tail because they’ve screwed you over during some of your weakest moments.
2. Live only with the things you need and sort through your stuff often. It’s ok to throw things away. It is!
Word.
#1. 😠 #2 True 😊
