Viña Cousiño Macul

Wine barrels

Well I’ve now been an expat in Chile for two years as of today. What better way to celebrate than by raising a glass of delicious Chilean wine and giving a big ol’ ¡SALUD!

Cousiño Macul vineyard

Yesterday we toured the lovely Cousiño Macul Vineyard, taking in the fall colors while filling our mouths with robust flavors. Though it is not my favorite wine –not to say that it isn’t tasty– , it is surely a beautiful vineyard to visit, one chocked full of history. Founded in 1856, it is the only one of the vineyards established in that time period which still remains completely family owned. What’s best is that it’s easily accessible to the car-less, a twenty-some minute walk, or cheap taxi ride, from Metro Quilín on the blue line.

I will say, that I was a bit disappointed to have signed us up for a premium tour only to find out that they had made an error and don’t give premiums on Sundays; And the only compensation was a “sorry.” So I can’t promise that making a reservation will guarantee the visit you had wanted.

And lastly, the group shot I took with a ten-second timer while hanging my camera off of a vineyard post.
