I´ve always had a bit of a fascination with trying to capture lightning. It´s a true achievement to expose that split second as it slashes through the sky.
Last night, I witnessed an amazing electrical storm, my first here in Santiago. Having just moved in to a new 18-floor apartment building with roof access on top, I was elated at the opportunity to go up there and attempt to photograph the bolts shooting through the “cielo.”
It was an odd storm, a divided sky. It never rained, just flashed and rumbled through the city, leaving tranquil skies behind. I like the main photo because of the contrast in the sky more than the charged light. I think it is an objective presentation that all storms pass in this life, both literally and figuratively. That underneath it all, peace awaits.
These photos were shot on bulb setting with a remote shutter, my poor fingers serving as a tripod on the edge of the building, and an extreme amount of patience. Well worth the outcome.
These are beautiful!!! I am looking forward to the view from your rooftop. 11 days to go til Kendal time.
