I went for the Ramirana 2013 Trinidad Vineyard blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere from Chile’s Pacific Maipo, a coastal sub-region of the mighty Maipo Valley. Here temperatures are notably cooler from the rest of the valley, favoring fresh fruit flavors and a marked acidity. Commonly known for big, bold reds, the Maipo Valley is surprising winelovers with this newest sub-region. Be on the lookout for some interesting whites coming out of here!

A brilliant intense ruby red in glass. The nose’s medium (-) intensity displays aromas of plum, black olive, sweet spices and oak. Developing. The mouth is dry, expressing a medium (+) acidity, medium integrated tannins, high alcohol and medium body. Pronounced red fruit flavors with floral and meaty hints, this wine really comes alive on the palate. A refreshing blend. With a medium (+) finish, I would rate this premium Ramirana as very good and loyal to its origin.
