Pica

My partner in crime, Maiten, at a plaza’s giant fruit display.

Named after the limón de pica (basically a key lime), this little town in Chile’s Norte Grand professes to be an oasis in the middle of the desert. And it is.

an oasis
The town’s welcome provided a chuckle.

Part of my La Tirana adventure, I absolutely loved this little oasis, with its fresh tropical-esk fruits and friendly faces. Totally worth passing through and trying one of their famous pisco sours!

pica song

Pica is Eden
in all of Tarapacá, the best
There is no other like
the town
that has my
heart

It’s your oranges, your lemons
one-of-a-kind to the region
the best
It’s your guavas, delicious mangos
one-of-a-kind to the region
the best

 There’s nothing like you,
town that has my heart

~ In memory of Emilio Vilca Cancino
