Downtown

“Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city.
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty.
How can you lose?” -Petula Clark
El Centro, Downtown Santiago, a place that I’ve always wanted to photograph in which I always let my fear overcome the urge. So many people, and notorious for pick-pocketers, I never wanted to take the risk of whipping out my grand camera and shrinking my world—and awareness—to a small frame amidst the masses.
However, last Friday night, after a conversation with mi amiga Daniela, we decided it was time I have an opportunity to capture downtown, where everything was waiting for me. So Saturday I strapped my 30D around Daniela’s neck and my 5D Mark II around mine, and off we went, one eye on each other’s back, one eye on all the noise and hurry.
It felt so good to finally do what I had yearned for since my very first time in Plaza de Armas, July 2009. And after a while, I realized that so many times before I had let unnecessary fear surpass the opportunity to get a really great photo. With a little bit of precaution and smarts, downtown is the perfect place in which to roam around, camera in hand—this of course only applies to the daytime.
So here you have it, El Centro de Santiago, Chile:
fantastic as ever:) teach me how to shoot like that??
Thanks and any time! A photo walk after a picnic, te parece?!
