So we were out on the patio, eating cheese and sipping some Pinot Noir, when I notice this guy moseying along.

Intrigued, I ran to get my camera and 100mm macro lens to see what I could do. Fact: Caterpillars can book it, and getting a good close-up is not as easy as you would think. 

After Googling caterpillars–and you should do that, so many cool creatures!– I eventually found one that looked like mine and it seems as if a Hornworm, a.k.a. Goliath Worm, had made its way to our house. Unfortunately, Google has informed me that he will turn into an ugly moth :(

And so you can get an idea of why they’re known as Goliath Worms, a photo of me photographing him, a good three inches long!
