The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve is like no other place I have ever explored. The hotel and lodges are rustic yet luxurious, labyrinths of rooms and passageways to wander. The grounds are fascinating, always in harmony with the surroundings. Wooden walkways weave throughout the complex leading you to an on-site brewery, a waterfall, a deer reserve, etc.
It’s magical.
This really does not do the place justice. Half the time it was either raining, or I was simply enjoying myself and the moment too much to worry about capturing it.
Also, I recommend going with a small group and staying in the cabins. The hotel is quite expensive and the rooms didn’t look sooooo special. The cabins are much more affordable and give you full access to the reserve. Plus, the cabins have a wood burning stove, and there is no cozier heat than that.
