Heat, salt, and endless blue skies define San Pedro de Atacama; it is a place of grand scale beauty, unfathomable until you have seen it with your own eyes.
On this trip, I have never felt a stronger desire to preserve and protect the world in which we live. I want my grandchildren to stand where I have and feel the gratitude that I have felt. I want them to know what it means to live and how great this world truly is.
After 25 hours in bus, traveling up Chile’s spine, our first destination was Laguna Piedra, where one can stand up straight in the water and not sink. Similar to the Dead Sea, Laguna Piedra’s high concentration of salt allows for the phenomenal experience of effortless floating; you literally cannot sink.
Sunset in one beautiful place, the next day sunrise in another.
About a two hour drive from San Pedro on a desert road that shakes the body to its core, mystic plumes of smoke and sulfuric fumes fill the air. At 4,320 meters above sea level, the Tatio Geysers is the highest geothermic field in the world; and an amazing sight to behold as the 185 degree waters hit the cold morning air.
You never know what you’re going to encounter in this life….
This same trip include my wonders into Bolivia.
